Town Square

Whoa, there's something really amazing going on in this first photo! OK, I lied. There's nothing amazing going on in this first photo. But I'd like to pretend that the lady sitting on the bench in the lower left dispatched her husband with rat poison and now she's looking for a new vicitim. I'm not crazy.

The Horse-drawn Streetcars are things of beauty, in their way. Especially when compared to the Freedomland version. Now that the park is often so crowded, I've heard that they are going to replace the horses with rhinos so that people will get out of the way.

They pulled off 1900 better in the '50s.

Sigh, that's age; in the bottom pic there's a kid on the streetcar who can't be bothered to sit down; meanwhile beyond the streetcar is an old man sitting and wondering if he should get up to go catch the streetcar.

In regards to the first pic with the the husband-poisoning woman sitting alone on the bench, I would have to say your observation is dead on. Having a murderer running (or sitting) loose inside the park is the only explanation for such a deserted Main Street USA.

The skulls of her victims were later used in the queue area of Indiana Jones and the Temple of the Forbidden Eye.

I love the attention to detail lavished on the Freedomland streetcar. The painted-on rear light clearly shows that C.V. Wood was the true genius behind what made Disneyland so successful.

Do you suppose she was commissioned to provide souls for the planned Haunted Mansion?

Or perhaps to provide soles for the Main Street cobbler...
