Monorail Yellow, July 1961

It's time for more Monorail goodness courtesy of our photographer from July 1961, who was more than a little bit interested in that attraction. He took at least a dozen photos of it! This one shows the beautiful yellow Monorail, which had been added to the fleet that year. The track had been extended to the Disneyland Hotel as well, making it a real mode of transporation rather than just a ride. You can just make out the General Dynamics logo on the Submarine Voyage sign.

See the pilot up in the bubble dome? Lucky guy! I never had the chance to ride in the front of the Monorail, but I'm going to have to make it happen one of these days! When those sleek new trains are running regularly.

You really do need to ride in the nose cone--it's a great view!

I love the colors! How come our photos now don't look as amazing as the ones back then?
