Coke Corner, July 1961

Here is an unusual photo showing the interior of the Coke Corner. It was a very dark slide, and it got a bit grainy when I lightened it up. But it's worth it, I love the fancy marble counter and stained-glass lamps...pretty fancy for a place to buy some fizzy sugar water!

Check out the little scenes over the back counter...I can only assume that they had some sort of limited movement, like the windows on Main Street? The kid at the counter has just run up a bill of 10 cents. Note that the sign says that over 58 million Cokes were sold each day back in 1961 (what could the number be today?). Pretty unbelievable. Let's see, 58 million times ten cents - - that's over eighty dollars a day!

From the same lot comes this slide, which was labeled "Cutie in Disneyland". Well OK! You be the judge. To me, it looks like this girl is considering using her purse as a lethal weapon, and I for one would not mess with her.

Those are some neat shots of the interior of Refreshment Corner. In the Fantasyland one, can you make out what the sign says over the doorway?

Always liked Coke corner. I guess it was the turn of the century style of the place. Thanks major.

I'm fascinated by the thought of those vignette displays. I think the one to the far left shows an "old timey" seaside scene, because you can see a woman with a floppy bathing cap, beach umbrella and picnic basket. The middle scene shows a man and woman and horseless carriage, and in the window on the far right (before entering the Candy Palace) you can just make out a hard-working man hoisting some sort of log or something. I'll bet they were all enjoying a bottled Coke. In exterior shots of Coke Corner, taken around the same time, one of the display windows by the front door had a model hot-air balloon and basket - perhaps with more figures of folks enjoying a Coke. I love this kind of stuff!

Great to see those old interior pics of Coke Corner. Sure wish it was still configured like this...

Thanks---
